Who We Are

Our founder, Monique Poche’ Bennett created Cabinets by Design with the mission to bring beauty to everyday living. Our team of expert designers work with you every step of the way. Many years of expertise and strong relationships with manufacturers and installers has allowed us to create a memorable, enjoyable experience for our clients.

How It Began

Our Story

As a child, owner Monique Poche’ Bennett loved cooking, sparking her desire to create timeless kitchens that were functional and beautiful. After a few years of working in the cabinet industry, Monique found her passion for design. Cabinets by Design opened its doors on October 1, 1988 and has been designing and transforming dreams into reality ever since.

Monique Poche’ Bennett, CKD

A New Orleans native, Monique received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Louisiana State University in 1983. She opened Cabinets by Design in Gretna in 1988, after working for five years as a kitchen and bath designer at a local cabinet and appliance showroom. Monique purchased and renovated a building in Uptown, New Orleans in 2003, and moved her business to its current location. Monique has been an active member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association since 1983, earning her CKD certification in 1996.

Dodee DePriest-Black, PMP

Raised in a millwork family in Alexandria, Louisiana, Dodee received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1992.  After 25 years of working in corporate facilities project management, she retired for a slower pace.  Now a designer for Cabinets by Design she enjoys seeing the creative kitchen and bath solutions come to life. Dodee’s construction industry knowledge, attention to detail and creativity combine to bring great value to our kitchen and bath design team.

David Broussard

David is a native of Houma and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Nicholls State University. Through the years, David’s passion for design, working with fine quality products, and collaboration is what drew him to the design industry, where he eventually landed at Cabinets By Design. David is a natural problem-solver and has a keen eye for the small details that contribute to the overall quality, look and flow of a design project. In his free time, he loves cooking and hosting small gatherings focused around food and friends!
